Beachlands is 40 km by road north east of Auckland CBD (specifically, the Sky Tower). Jack Lachlan Drive is recommended if you're hungry, with a few restaurants, bars and cafes scattered about. Local sights include The Domain, a park that's ideal for picnics, and Moturaka Island, a 200 metre walk along a sandbank at low tide.
