The 25 km north of Cairns are best covered along the Kuranda Scenic Railway, but you can also get here by Skyrail Gondola or just a regular motor vehicle. It's surrounded by World Heritage Listed rainforest and filled with markets, such as the Original Kuranda Rainforest Markets. Queensland's only captive Big Cats are in the Wildlife Safari Reserve, and if you like your nature a little less man-eating, the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary might be more your speed.
