Yamba Hotel & Accommodation

At the mouth of the Clarence River on the NSW north coast, there lays a sleepy, coastal holiday town with stylish, unique charm. Blessed liberally with a perfect climate, seemingly bohemian lifestyle and peerless surf beaches, it is quite often compared to Byron Bay as it was some 20 years ago. It retires early and sleeps soundly yet Yamba puts out plenty of opportunity to snap up a catch or two with a superb selection of rock, beach, estuary or deep-sea fishing spots. If travelling with children, you can still throw in a line with family-friendly activities that include fishing for prawns and oysters, or yabbying at low tide.

With 11 local beaches in the area you won't be pressed to find somewhere perfect for a surf, snorkel or swim. But locals rate Pippi Beach as a hot spot for enthusiastic surfers and Clarence Head for protected beach swimming and soaking up the sun.

A variety of resort, motel and camping options for any budget ensures you won't break the bank but if you can afford a little luxury then steal away with family and friends for a rainforest retreat at Angourie Beach; a coastal oasis offering stylish, sustainable accommodation and lush rainforest views. Evoke you're inner daredevil and plunge into Angouries's Blue Pool; an extremely deep yet popular swimming hole that was once a rock quarry. Explore the rock shelf that separates the pools from the ocean or check out Spooky's Beach to catch a glimpse of migrating whales (July to November) and dolphins. With a rich bounty of local succulent seafood for inspiration, Yamba dishes up some truly inventive and tantalising menus among its elegant gourmet restaurants, refurbished country pubs and funky street cafes. Warning: party animals need not make the three hour drive south from Brisbane or the day's drive north from Sydney. While there are no direct flights into Yamba, regional flights are available into Grafton (one hour drive), Ballina or Coffs Harbour.

Sleepy yet satisfying, Yamba is one of Australia's most favoured holiday spots and it's beckoning you to visit.
